NEIGHBOURHOOD

A Historical and Contemporary District

NOTE 1

Nestled in the quiet neighbourhood of PoHo, Tung Street lies at the heart of a unique district with a rich history set within the vibrancy of a modern city.

Anchoring one end of Hollywood Road and within a short stroll of Tung Street is Tai Kwun, the old Central Police Station compound now lovingly restored to a complex housing a collection of art galleries and restaurants. Also along Hollywood Road is PMQ, a historical building that used to be the Police Married Quarters and now been revived as a hub for local creativity and design.

Art &
culture

NOTE 1

The area is in the middle of a vibrant scene of small boutique galleries with major international galleries nearby in Central. Also next to Tung Street is Hollywood Road, where for generations have been a major hub for Chinese antique dealers. To add vibrancy and character to the area, a selection of international street artists have decorated some streets in the area with colourful murals.

WORK LIFE,
HOME LIFE

NOTE 1

The Tung Street area is characterised by a leafy and pedestrian vibe that stands in contrast with the hustle and bustle of the city. The PoHo area contains a number of parks that provide a place of calm despite being in the middle of Hong Kong Island. Tung Street is also a short walk from Central where the extensive MTR and bus network will connect you to all corners of the city. If time allows, one can choose a more leisurely way of travelling by choosing the Star Ferry or tram.

About The Developer — TDS

The Development Studio (“TDS”) is a real estate developer based in Hong Kong with a focus on high quality residential and commercial projects. Its mission is to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary through creative design and thoughtful marketing.

TDS was formed by Keith Kerr in 2009 in order to share his extensive experience in real estate with a younger generation with a vision to create a ‘boutique’ development company focusing on a range of high quality residential and commercial projects.

Prior to forming TDS, he spent 35 years at Swire Properties in Hong Kong, the last 20 years as CEO and Chairman. Projects developed during his tenure were Pacific Place, Festival Walk, the Taikoo Place campus comprising 13 office buildings culminating in the 1,500,000 sf One Island East as well as a wide range of residential projects. Substantial mixed-use projects initiated in Mainland China during his tenure include Taikoo Hui in Guangzhou, Taikoo Li at San Li Tun in Beijing (incorporating The Opposite House hotel) and HKRI Taikoo Hui in the Puxi district of Shanghai.

TDS worked closely with a number of significant partners in the early years including The Kuok Group, Kowloon Development, Hysan Development and Kadoorie Estates, but has concentrated on creating it’s own projects since 2011.

Keith Kerr is President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong.
